It has been a pretty good week this week. We are going a little deeper into the classes, but it’s not ridiculously bad yet. This week I was asked to speak at the annual Martin Luther King Celebration. This is an event where a lot of the staff and students come and eat, while a few people give words. When I was asked, I got pretty nervous because I knew that a lot of people would be there, but I went ahead and said yes. I came to find that even President Webb was there, and then I got real nervous at the thought of having to speak in front of everyone. Although I was nervous, I delivered my speech without a lot of stumbling of my words and it made me feel pretty good to have gotten past that. Sometimes in college you will be put in positons that can make you feel uncomfortable and nervous, but if you just get past it one time, eventually things will get easier and easier for you. I am now working on homework again, but it’s not too bad. If you come to UCO, be prepared for anything at any given moment.

Well we are officially back at school again, and I believe it’s going to be a great semester. I am taking 14 hours this semester, and I now have a job so I will be pretty busy once again. Last semester ended very well, and I got the grades that I was looking to get. It’s spring semester and that means that it will be time for filling out scholarships and all those wonderful college applications. I encourage everyone to fill out as many scholarship applications as you possibly can! If you just get a 300 dollar scholarship, that can be the payment for your books. Every little bit counts so don’t count out the smaller scholarships. Just a few words of wisdom from a second semester freshman! Ha ha ha! I have some great classes that I actually enjoy so if you don’t like the first semester classes, don’t lose hope! There are many subjects in college and eventually you will find some great classes that you will remember for the rest of your life. Feel free to email me if you have any questions!

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving! What can I say about it? Well lets see, I left on Tuesday evening around 7 or so, and got to my hometown around 9 or 10 o clock. I went to one of my friend’s little get together at his house for his birthday. Saw a few people that I have not seen in a long time. We played a few video games for old times sake and then just chilled until about 2 am, when I finally decided to hit the road and go to the house. Before thanksgiving break even started, I had it in my mind that I was going to do a little homework on Wednesday, eat on Thursday all day, do a little work Friday and some Saturday, and then by the time Sunday came I could just relax. Well....IT DIDN’T HAPPEN! I did nothing but EAT and watch sports all weekend long! I saw a close friend I had not spent time with in a while, but besides that I just ate and slept. I know it sounds lazy but once you get wrapped up in the college life, DOIN NOTHING sounds better than doing anything. I made my way back to the school and Saturday night. Did some homework on Sunday and haven’t stopped doing homework since, in order to make up for my laziness. So the lesson in this is that you pick your poison. You can either work your whole break and just relax the week after and not be stressed at school, or you can relax your whole break and add some pressure by trying to catch up. I still don’t regret my decision, but we’ll see how the rest of the semester turns out for me!

November 2, 2007

Well I’m currently feeling the best that I’ve felt in months. I have slept more this weekend than I have since I’ve been here. The reason I was so tired is because I had an NAACP conference in Lawton, Ok to which I drove. I drove down there Friday and got settled into my hotel room. I  then went to see my great aunt, who I had not seen in a long time. When I got there, to my pleasant surprise, my parents were there. That was pretty cool because I hadn’t seen them in over a month. I then found my way to the movies later that night to watch American Gangster, and may I add that I didn’t know it was going to be that bad, it was horrible. After staying up all night in the hotel room, we all got up the next morning and went to the conference. It lasted from 9 am to about 2 pm. They fed us and then we had a great speaker. Soon after, I hit the road to come back to Edmond. I found my way to my room, laid down on my bed and never came out of my room until

this morning. I now have to study for an exam, do some algebra, take a health quiz online, wash some clothes, get some things from the store, oh and I’m going to church this morning. WOW! Lots to do!

Am I My Brother’s Keeper Conference

I am currently in Lawrence, Kansas at a leadership conference called Am I My Brother’s Keeper? It took about 4 ½ hours to get here from UCO and I only remember vague parts of it because I slept the WHOLE way. Those are truly the best trips in the world because you get to catch up on lost sleep. I really had to prepare to go to this conference too. I had an exam to do at 8 am Thursday morning because I was going to be leaving at 10:30 am for the conference. The night before the exam, I was up doing homework and getting packed (procrastination kills) and finally getting to bed by about 3:30 am. Taking an exam after having a little more than 3 ½ hours of sleep can be VERY difficult but I managed and believe I made a good grade. I would not advise you to do this at any point in your college career, but some things cant be helped so you have to do what you have to do. The trip has been pretty good, and I think I’ll be taking some good things back to UCO when it’s over.

MY BIRTHDAY

1:47am Oct. 12, 2007

It is after 1:30 am and I am still up and I have class at 9 am in the morning which is not TOO bad but its still not 10 or 11 am. October 11th was my birthday and it was great! I had a lot of great friends and family call, text, and message me happy birthday and even had a few people sing to me! I got a cookie cake from two wonderful girls in my life at 12 am last night. For lunch, three of my best friends here at UCO took me to Wendy's and let me get the biggest burger, biggest fries, biggest frosty, and then took me to wal mart and let me get the SMALLEST cake! lol...not just any cake...CHOCOLATE cake! (inside joke) I attended Rock the Block today for a while and then later for dinner went to I Hop. One last thing that comes to mind is that one of my BEST friends waited until 11:59 pm to call and sing happy birthday! The friendship was saved by approximately 1 minute! Like I said though, it was a great birthday, but now I'm paying for it because I'm losing sleep so that I can finish all my homework I put off until...now. Today showed me just how much I love UCO. I'm away from most of my family, but I could not tell the difference between this birthday and past birthdays because of the wonderful friends I have made since I've been here. AND I REALLY MEAN THAT! For all of you who may read this just know...I LOVE YA'LL!!!!! GOD BLESS!!!!!
