Mentor Program
For the third year, the Disabled Sports USA Youth Sports Mentoring Program will be part of the Endeavor Games to partner these Wounded Warriors with our youth. Last year, UCO hosted four mentoring matches between youth and severely injured service members competing at the Games. These Wounded Warriors will be participating in the event as part of the Wounded Warrior Disabled Sports Project, and have been trained as mentors. Utilizing sport as a rehabilitative tool, these men and women have overcome the adversity and challenges brought about by their recent injuries, making them ideal mentors!

Using sport as the basis of the mentor matches, the Disabled Sports USA Youth Sports Mentoring Program seeks to introduce young athletes with disabilities to adults within the disabled sports community that can help them identify their true potential. The program is currently made up of 11 DS/USA chapters from nine different states. The DS/USA Youth Sports Mentoring Program has been made possible through support from its sponsors and partners: U.S. Department of Education; Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation; Daniels Fund; Partners for Youth with Disabilities (PYD); Pangea Foundation; Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.

To participate in the 2008 Mentoring Program please complete the form below, or contact Jessica Horton at 405.974.3142 or jhorton11@ucok.edu.
