REINSTATEMENT OF F-l STATUS
Complete the following steps and then come to the International Office:
1. Form I-539
2. Official Transcripts from all U.S. Institutions attended.
3. Financial sponsorship statement which is less than one year old.
4. Student statement requesting Reinstatement and explaining the reasons for
becoming out-of-status.
Title 8 Code of Federal Regulations, Part 214.2(f)(16) states in pertinent part:
Reinstatement to student status-(i) General. The Service may consider reinstating an F-I student who makes a request for reinstatement on Form 1-539, Application to Extend time of Temporary Stay, accompanied by a properly completed Form I-20 A-B from the school the student is attending or intends to attend, if the student:
(A) Establishes to the satisfaction of the Service that the violation of status resulted from circumstances beyond the student's control or that failure to receive reinstatement to lawful F-I status would result in extreme hardship to the student.
5. Check for $195.00.00 issued to Citizenship and Immigration Services.
6. Valid Passport (Original)
7. I-94
8. I-20 for Reinstatement
9. Copies of all previously issued 1-20's
10. Authorization (if any) from Designated School Official for any semester with reduced course load.
