Federal Financial Aid

Before we link you to the Financial Aid homepage, we want you to take a moment to familiarize yourself with some basic terms and procedures.

Financial aid funds are designed to assist you in paying your educational costs. We encourage all students to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon after Jan. 1 as possible.

The FAFSA forms are available from your high school counselor's office, local library, or UCO's Student Financial Aid Office.

By completing the FAFSA, you will make application for the following programs:
Federal and State Grants - Requires no repayment or work obligation. State grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, to residents of Oklahoma only.
Federal Work Study - Enables students to work on or off campus while attending college – offers a more flexible schedule than employment outside of the university.
Loans - Borrowed money which must be repaid with interest.

The FAFSA requires that you report income information from the previous year's tax return. Once you complete your application, allow four to six weeks for a response.

For a quicker response, file your FAFSA electronically over the Internet at www.fafsa.ed.gov. To speed up your online application even more we recommend you apply for your PIN (Personal Identification Number) by visiting www.pin.ed.gov.

Other financial aid documents may be required at the institution you plan to attend. Prompt reply to all information requested will speed up your notification of eligibility for financial aid. You may contact UCO's Financial Aid Office at (405) 974-3334 if you need further assistance completing your financial aid paperwork.
