KINS 2643 - Introduction To Kinesiology Studies
This course will investiage the nature, scope, and impact that leisure services have on society including the historical and philosophical background, delivery systems, and professional preparation. This course replaces REC 2643.
KINS 3000 - Workshop

KINS 3112 - Group Exercise Techniques
The course will study principles and methods of exercise leadership. Primary focus will center on exercise programming and participation, teaching methods, technique evaluation, supervision, and leadership of various types of group exercise programs.
KINS 3403 - Principles In Leadership Development
This course will examine the leadership techniques, organizational and administrative procedures necessary to become an effective and productive leader in the leisure and fitness professions. Prerequisite(s): KINS 2643. This course replaces REC 3402.
KINS 3503 - Pharmacology Health/Fitness Professionals
This course will provide an overview into the medications commonly encountered by health/fitness and athletic training professionals. The course will address categories of drugs; generic and trade names of common drugs; the use, effects and precautions for common drugs; and drug interactions. It will also focus on how various drugs affect the individual's response to exercise and stress. Prerequisite(s): CHEM 1014 or 1103. Enrollment open to Exercise/Fitness Management majors only.
KINS 3623 - Program Design And Management
The course will examine the principles and practical applications for designing, implementing, monitoring, promoting, and evaluating a wide variety of program forms in the recreation, leisure and fitness industry. Prerequisite(s): KINS 2643. This course replaces REC 3623.
KINS 3632 - Grant Writing & Fundraising
This course will focus on methods, techniques, and direct experience in acquiring funds and in-kind resouces necessary for the successful operation of philanthropic/community leisure/fitness agencies. All students will be expected to identify a worthy cause and write a proposal for submission to a viable funding agency. Students will have the opportunity to develop a fundraising activity for a specific agency. Prerequisite(s): KINS 2643. Junior or senior standing.

This course is designed to provide an understanding of the processes and methods of research and evaluation, as they relate to kinesiology and health studies. Prerequisite(s): KINS 2643. Junior or senior standing. Enrollment open to Kinesiology and Community Health majors only.

KINS 4252 - Legal Aspects Leisure/Fitness Programs
This course will provide an opportunity to study the legal responsibilities of persons functioning in the fields of recreation and exercise/fitness science. It will include both application and interpretation of the law. This course replaces PHED 4252.
KINS 4263 - Performance Training Concepts
This course is designed to increase the practical and theoretical understanding and knowledge of the physiological, biomechanical, and administrative aspects of designing and supervising strength and conditioning programs for various populations. Prerequisite(s): PHED 3503. Junior or senior standing.
KINS 4323 - Exercise Programs For Special Populations
This course is designed to increase the understanding and practical application of exercise to special populations. The students will learn and apply knowledge on how to modify exercise for individuals and groups based on age, medical conditions, and special needs. The areas covered will include but are not limited to: coronary heart disease, diabetes, asthma, obesity, pregnancy, physically and mentally challenged. Prerequisite(s): PHED 3503.
KINS 4413 - Applied Exercise Physiology
This course will cover a breadth of material relevant to the exercise physiology field such as ergogenic aids, hormones and exercise training, exercise and weight control, and aging and disease prevention. The application of physiological principles of training for fitness will be examined. Prerequisite(s): PHED 3503, HLTh 1112, 3412, CHEM 1041 and 1041L. Enrollment is open to Kinesiology-Ex/Fitness Mgmt majors only with junior standing or above.
KINS 4433 - Management Principles In KINS
This course will incorporate the study of management and administrative skills needed to successfully meet the demands of working in the areas of leisure, recreation, and fitness. It will include an in depth look into areas such as decision-making, personnel issues and budgetary concerns. This course replaces REC 4433. Prerequisite(s): KINS 3623, ACCT 2113. Senior standing. Enrollment open to Kinesiology majors only.
KINS 4513 - Fitness Assessment
The primary focus of this course is to provide exercise/fitness professionals with the knowledge and skills required to assess the physical fitness status of individuals. Attention will be placed on the measurement of human metabolic responses in laboratory and field settings. Prerequisite(s): PHED 3503. Enrollment is open to Kinesiology-Ex/Fitness Mgmt majors with junior standing or above.
KINS 4523 - Exercise Prescription
This course will focus on the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively prescribe exercise programs to various populations. The students will demonstrate the ability to analyze physical assessments and apply appropriate exercise prescriptions to meet health-related physical fitness goals. Prerequisite(s): KINS 4513 and junior standing or above. Enrollment open to Kinesiology-Ex/Fitness Mgmt majors only.

This course provides wellness professionals with the skills to initiate, maintain, and expand technology and media into daily business. It also emphasizes obtaining resources, information, skills, and strategies through practical application. Prerequisite(s): Graduate standing.
KINS 5233 - Assessment Of Health & Exercise Sciences
Assessment of Health and Exercise Sciences is designed to provide instruction in three common statistical tasks: 1) collecting data, 2) summarizing and exploring data, and 3) drawing conclusions and making decisions based on data.
KINS 5303 - Diagostic Testing & Exercise Prescription
This course is designed to enhance the student's knowledge and application of exercise testing and exercise prescription for apparently healthy populations. Prerequisite(s): Graduate standing and PHED 5303 and KINS 4513.
KINS 5313 - Athletic Training Principles
This course is a study of advanced theories, techniques, and applications of skills relative to athletic injury care and rehabilitation. Prerequisite(s): Enrollment open to Athletic Training majors only.
KINS 5333 - Rehabilitation Exercise For Special Populations
This course is designed to increase the student's working knowledge about special populations in the areas of physical assessment and exercise prescription. Prerequisite(s): Graduate standing and PHED 5303.
KINS 5343 - Assessment Athletic Injuries
This course provides the student with information and basic skills used to evaluate athletic injuries and special problems including palpation methods, manual muscle tests, neurological tests, and special tests. Prerequisite(s): Enrollment is open to Athletic Training majors only.
KINS 5403 - Biomechanical Analysis
The principles of classical mechanics are applied to the study of human motion to provide students with an understanding of the internal and external forces acting on the body during human movement. The role of muscle in generating force and controlling movement is emphasized. Prerequisite(s): PHED 3333 and HLTH 3223.
KINS 5413 - Clinical Education Assessment Of Athletic Injuries
This course will provide the clinical experience to conduct comprehensive injury examinations, determine a list of different diagnoses and make clincal judgments. Prerequisite(s): Concurrent enrollment in KINS 5343 is required. Enrollment open to Athletic Training majors only.
KINS 5423 - Strength Development & Training Methods
This course is designed to address strength development and training inthe context of exercise science, sports medicine, preventive medicine, health psychology and behavioral medicine, epidemiology, nutrition, and rehabilitative medicine. The focus will be the blending of theory driven research with the practical applications of exercise prescription to specific training paradigms and that relationship to exercise adherence, maintenance, and relapse. Prerequisite(s): Graduate standing.
KINS 5433 - Therapeutic Modalities
This course will provide the athletic training student with the knowledge, theory, and techniques for the use and application of therapeutic modalities. Prerequisite(s): Enrollment open to Athletic Training majors only.
KINS 5443 - Clinical Education Therapeutic Modalities
This course provides clinical education sessions and supervised field experiences to develop clinical skills in therapeutic modalities. Prerequisite(s): Enrollment is open to Athletic Training majors only.
KINS 5513 - Medical Aspects Of Athletic Training
This course will provide the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize, manage, and refer the athletes to appropriate medical specialists. Prerequisite(s): Enrollment is open to Athletic Training majors only.
KINS 5523 - Rehabilitation Techniques For Athletic Injury
This course will provide a comprehensive look at post-injury and post-operative rehabilitation techniques. Students will study the therapeutic exercise and modality techniques involved in returning athletes from injury to full participation. Prerequisite(s): KINS 5313. Enrollment is open to Athletic Training majors only.
KINS 5613 - Clinical Education For Rehabilitation Techniques
The course will provide the opportunity to practice rehabilitation skills instructed in the clinical setting under the supervision of an accredited clinical instructor. Instruction in the clinical setting will include supervised practice and assessment of the individual rehabilitation skill and supervised application of the skill with injury treatment and rehabilitation. Prerequisite(s): Enrollment open to Athletic Training majors only.
KINS 5623 - Pathophysiology For Athletic Trainers
This course is a study of acute and chronic illnesses and musculosketal disorders including the pharmacologic response during physical activity. Prerequisite(s): Enrollment is open to Athletic Training majors only.
KINS 5713 - Athletic Training Administration
This course will examine the organization and administration of an Athletic Training Program with an emphasis on the formulation of policies and procedures and other administrative tasks using NATA competencies. Prerequisite(s): Enrollment open to Athletic Taining majors only.
KINS 5723 - Psychosocial Aspects Of Athletic Training
This course will focus on sociological and psychological aspects of physical activities on athletes, and the effects of physical activity as related to differences based on cultural, ethnic, gender, and handicapping conditions. Prerequisite(s): Enrollment open to Athletic Training majors only.
KINS 5733 - Athletic Training Clincial I
The course will provide the student with a supervised clinical experience in order to develop foundational behaviors of professional practice through the evaluation of athletic injuries to include but not limited to: differential diagnosis, clinical judgement, skills related to psychomotor competencies, use of modalities, and acute care in equipment intensive experiences. Clinical proficiencies are required to complete the course. Students will need to provide transportation to clinical sites. Prerequisite(s): KINS 5343. Enrollment open to athletic training majors only. Concurrent enrollment in KINS 5523 and 5613 is required.
KINS 5743 - Athletic Training Clinical II
This course will expand upon the students supervised clinical experience to develop foundational behaviors of professional practice through the evaluation of athletic injuries by demonstrating a level of proficiency related to knowledge and psychomotor skills associated with the athletic training content areas of diagnosis of axial spine-trunk injuries, general medical conditions of chest/abdomen, therapeutic rehabilitation, pharmacology, nutrition, administration and professional development. Clinical proficiencies are required to complete the course. Student will need to provide transportation to clinical sites. Prerequisite(s): KINS 5733. Enrollment open to athletic training majors only. Concurrent enrollment in PHED 5393 is required.
