Late this morning, the UCO Department of Public Safety received a call from a person who identified herself as a student saying that she had seen a man with a weapon in a UCO parking lot.
DPS responded immediately, conducted a thorough search of the lot and surrounding buildings, spoke with several others in the area, and found nothing to confirm the report.
DPS expanded their search to all buildings on campus, and again, found nothing to confirm the report.
Had DPS officers determined that there was a threat, UCO would have responded immediately by contacting students, faculty and staff through the UCO Central Alert System and by contacting administration, deans, departments and others by phone or in person.
The safety of everyone in the UCO community is of the highest priority, and we continue to do the best we can to be prepared to respond as quickly as possible to any threat to that safety.
