When you come to the SCC for your first appointment, you will be asked to complete some paperwork before you meet with your intake counselor.

Please note that you are expected to arrive at the Student Counseling Center 15 minutes before your appointment time so you can complete necessary paperwork before meeting with your intake counselor. If you are unable to arrive early, please let us know and we can arrange for you to stop by the counseling center any time during normal business hours before your appointment to complete this paperwork. If your paperwork is not completed prior to your appointment, this may cut into the time you have to meet with a counselor and, depending on the circumstances, may result in the rescheduling of your appointment.

A first appointment (or intake) is designed to introduce you to our services and for us to learn more about your presenting problems.  During the appointment, an intake counselor will provide you with information about the services offered by the Student Counseling Center and this counselor will conduct a detailed interview that will help us understand your concerns.  The counselor will provide you with some options for addressing these concerns, and both you and the counselor will work together to make a decision on the most appropriate course of action.  If counseling seems appropriate, the counselor will assist you in obtaining counseling services.
