Mission Statement & Overview 
Mission Statement The Testing Services
at the University of Central Oklahoma is dedicated to providing alternatives to on-campus course work that will assist students with their educational goals.
[top] We provide approximately 100 departmental exams (often referred to as
"challenge" exams), 30 Subject CLEP exams, 5 General CLEP exams, 10 DANTES exams, credit for APP exams, and ACE recommended credit for
military training schools. We also administer the TOEFL and ACT
institutionally (see below for a description of some of these tests). Some students ask about "testing out" of courses. Yes,
you can earn credit to selected courses by passing an exam. Credit
by examination is recorded as a P on the transcript upon obtaining the
required score. Nothing is recorded if the examination is failed. Stop by the Testing Services for more information or to register for an
exam. We are located in Thatcher Hall, Room 302 and our office hours
during the academic year
are from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., M-F, excluding University
holidays.
2008 Summer hours - Beginning June 6 through July 25, office hours will
be Monday through Thursday 8:00-5:00 and Friday 8:00-12:00. Our phone number is (405) 974-2388. Exams apply only to the General Education Studies degree program. Please check with your Academic Advisor for verification. Exams are created by UCO faculty members. They are available only to those students who plan to graduate from UCO. Departmental exams are $20 per credit hour.
Exams are administered at the National level only for credit at UCO or any other institution that accepts them. Study guides are available for all DANTES exams. DANTES
has two fees: $10 fee payable by cash or check to UCO, and
a $70 exam fee to Dantes, payable by credit card or money order (no checks) Credit is granted provided the required score has been obtained on the exam in question. Please contact our department for a list of score requirements.
Training schools is granted based on ACE recommendations.
