Services for Commuter, Off Campus and Nontraditional Students

  1. Employment Opportunities

Description: A collection of job opportunities available to students who live in the Edmond/Oklahoma City area. The collection offers contact information and is available to any student at the University of Central Oklahoma.
 

  1. Job Search Database

Description: A collection of the internets most popular job search databases. The collection offers web addresses and descriptions of each job search.

  1. Office Hour Database

Description: A collection of all available office hours for student related entities at the University of Central Oklahoma.

  1. Childcare List

Description: A collection that is targeted towards the Nontraditional Student attending the University of Central Oklahoma. The collection offers contact information for all state accredited childcare services in the Edmond area.

  1. UCOMMUTE Website

Description: A website designed with the Commuter, Off Campus and Nontraditional Student in mind. All services and programs are listed on the website, as well as Off Campus Housing information, commuter meal plans, traffic and weather, mass transportation, the City of Edmond, parking, the rideshare/carpool program, campus maps, find a roommate program, the UCOMMUTE Council minutes, and all UCOMMUTE newsletters.

 

 

  1. Off Campus Housing Guide

Description: An annually published guide that lists Off Campus apartments available in the City of Edmond and Northern Oklahoma City. The guide also contains UCO contact information, Edmond contact information, service information, and information on how to read a lease and what to do about repairs. The guide is published the same day as the Off Campus Housing Fair.

  1. UCOMMUTE Newsletter

Description: A newsletter that is published on a monthly basis and contains pertinent information for the Commuter, Off Campus and Nontraditional Student.

  1. Carpool and Rideshare Program – Green Ride

Description: Online interface tool that allow students, faculty and staff to create rideshare and carpool listings, exchange information and the steps to begin the process of ridesharing/carpooling with other students.

  1. Find A Roommate Program – Off Campus Partners

Description: Online interface tool that allows students to create roommate listings based upon their needs. Their needs can be either have housing or need housing. The online interface tool allows students to exchange contact information, post listings about furniture and discuss issues on the message board.

  1. The UCOMMUTE Council

Description: A student organization comprised of Commuter, Off Campus and Nontraditional Students who meet on a monthly basis to discuss issues facing the their student population, as well as plan events and services.

  1. Nontraditional and Transfer Student Scholarship Database

Description: A collection of scholarships available for Nontraditional and Transfer Students.

  1. Community Ambassadors

Description: The Community Ambassador program is a student initiative supported by the Office of Commuter Student Services and is used to promote a safer, more collaborative community in the off-campus area with students serving as resources for other students, landlords, neighbors and the university.

  1. Commuter Meal Plans

Description: A set of meal plans designed with the Commuter, Off Campus, Nontraditional Student and their busy schedules in mind.

  1. Mass Transportation Information

Description: A collection of all available mass transportation available to UCO students.

  1. UCO Jr. City Council

Description: The University of Central Oklahoma Jr. City Council is a student initiative supported by Commuter Student Services and the Office of Student Organizations. This council is used to promote a more involved, educated and productive student population within the City of Edmond. The UCO Jr. City Council will serve as an advocate and resource for student needs as it relates to the City of Edmond.

  1. Nontraditional Student Parents Association

Description: The Nontraditional Student Parents Association is a student supported initiative supported by the Office of Commuter Student Services. Its mission is to bring Nontraditional Student Parents together to discuss issues and their particular needs as parents and students. They also serve as a programming tool for the UCOMMUTE Council and the Office of Commuter Student Services.

  1. The UCOMMUTE Alumni Newsletter

Description: A newsletter that is published on a semester basis. Its purpose is to keep former members of the UCOMMUTE Council and students registered with the Office of Commuter Student Services informed on events, news and information concerning the world of UCO’s commuter student population.

  1. UCOMMUTE Rental Advisory

Description: A service that is provided by the UCOMMUTE Council and the Office of Commuter Student Services. This service provides Off Campus Students with the tools to make Off Campus living easy and worry free. The service also provides students an advocate by providing students with a copy of the Oklahoma Residential Landlord Tenant Act, Rental Housing Checklist, Fair Housing information, Code Enforcement, Information on Renters Insurance, Edmond City Services, Tips on Being a Good Neighbor, Saving on Energy Bills Tips and Personal Safety Tips.

  1. Edmond Living Guide

Description: The Office of Commuter Student Services in partnership with the City of Edmond is now a resource point for the Edmond Living Guide, a guide published by the City of Edmond containing vital information for Edmond residents. Students may pick up a copy of the Edmond Living Guide by visiting the Office of Commuter Student Service or www.edmondok.com
