What is a Fitness Assessment:
Fitness assessment
will provide you with a detailed picture of your overall fitness.
Utilizing Microfit computer analysis, you will be tested in the
following areas of health related fitness:
Cardiovascular Fitness: The ability of the lungs, heart and
blood vessels to deliver adequate amounts of oxygen and nutrients to
the cells to meet the demands of prolonged physical activity.
Muscular
Endurance: The energy needed to carry out sustained muscular
efforts and or repetitive muscular action.
Muscular
Strength: The maximum force applied in a single effort by a
muscle.
Flexibility: The capacity of the muscles, tendons, and
ligaments to stretch in a range of motion.
Body Composition:
The body's amount of lean tissues (bones and muscle) and the amount
of fatty tissue.

Options:
YOU MUST
MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR ALL FITNESS ASSESSMENTS. PLEASE CONTACT THE
DEPARTMENT OF KINESIOLOGY AND HEALTH STUDIES AT 974-5230.
Option A: Height, weight, heart
rate, blood pressure, and body composition using calipers
Shorts and short sleeved shirt
required. Ladies please wear a sports bra. Test takes approximately
10 minutes.
Option B: Complete Fitness Assessment
Includes cycling test
estimating VO2; sit up and push up exercises for endurance testing;
bicep curl/sustained for strength; sit and reach testing for
flexibility. Option B also includes height, weight, heart rate, blood pressure,
and body composition using calipers.
Shorts and short sleeved shirt required.
Ladies please wear a sports bra. Test takes approximately 35 minutes.
Option C: Hydrostatic underwater
weighing
This method is considered the gold
standard for the measurement of body composition. The test is
performed at Wantland Hall and takes approximately 35 minutes to
complete. Swimsuit required during testing.
